Bank CSV to MYOB converter

MYOB doesn’t import bank CSV files. Turn your CSV or Excel export into an OFX file that MYOB Business imports, right here in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works: a bank CSV or Excel file is converted in your browser into a standard OFX file that MYOB can import.
How it works: an OFX file labels every field for MYOB.

Why MYOB needs an OFX file, not a CSV

MYOB’s own help says bank statement files must be in OFX, QFX, QIF or OFC format, and the browser version of MYOB Business asks for QIF or OFX (MYOB: Import bank and credit card statements, checked October 2026). Many banks only give you a CSV for older periods or business accounts, and MYOB can’t read it. This converter rewrites the CSV as a standard OFX file, with a date, amount, payee and unique ID for every transaction.

OFX stores dates as year, month, day, so MYOB can’t mix up 03/04 and 04/03 the way it can with a QIF file. The converter reads your CSV’s dates first: check the preview in step 2 shows them correctly (Australian and New Zealand exports are day-first).

How to import the file into MYOB Business

In the browser version of MYOB Business, MYOB’s steps are:

  1. Go to Banking and choose Banking hub.
  2. For the account, open the three-dots menu and choose Import statement.
  3. On the Bank statement import history page, click Import statement.
  4. Choose the bank account, click Import statement file, select the .ofx file and click Import.

The transactions then appear on the Bank transactions page, ready to match or allocate. In the desktop version (AccountRight), statements are imported from Banking → Reconcile Accounts → Get Statement, and MYOB matches them by cheque number, date and amount.

Before you import: what MYOB checks

  • File size: MYOB accepts statement files under 10 MB. A year of a busy account is usually far smaller as OFX, but split it by quarter if not.
  • Dates: transactions dated before the opening balance date set in MYOB, or before a lock date, won’t import. Download only the period after your opening balance date.
  • One account per file: convert and import each bank account or card separately, and choose Credit card in step 3 for card statements.
  • Currency: set the currency in step 3 to match the MYOB account (AUD or NZD).

If your bank already offers an OFX or QIF download for the period you need, use that: you don’t need a converter. This tool is for when you only have a CSV or Excel file.

How your data stays private

  • Your browser reads the file. The converter is JavaScript that runs on this page and opens your file on your own device.
  • Nothing is sent to a server. Your file and its contents are never uploaded, to us or to anyone else. The page also loads Google Analytics and Google ads; useme4’s code never passes your file to them.
  • It works offline. Once this page has loaded, you can disconnect from the internet and the converter keeps working.

You can check this yourself in about a minute: how to verify that your file never leaves your browser.

What this converter can’t do

  • PDF statements. This converter reads CSV, Excel and OFX/QFX/QBO files. For a PDF, use PDF bank statement to Excel.
  • Old .xls files. Excel 97–2003 workbooks aren’t supported. Open the file in Excel or Google Sheets and save it as .xlsx or CSV first.
  • Files over 25 MB. Download a shorter date range from your bank instead.
  • Dates that could go either way. If every date in a file could be day-first or month-first (like 03/04/2026), the converter follows your region and warns you. Check the preview.
  • Checking your bank’s file. It can only convert what the bank exported. Compare the transaction count and totals with your statement before you import.

Frequently asked questions

Can MYOB import a CSV bank statement?

Not as a bank statement. MYOB’s help says statement files must be OFX, QFX, QIF or OFC. Convert the CSV to OFX here, then import the OFX file.

Does this work with MYOB Business and AccountRight?

The OFX file follows the standard MYOB lists as supported. In MYOB Business (browser) you import it from the Banking hub; in the desktop version you use Reconcile Accounts and Get Statement.

Why didn’t some transactions import into MYOB?

MYOB skips transactions dated before the opening balance date set in your MYOB file, or before a lock date. Check those dates in MYOB, or download a period that starts after them.

Which date format should I choose?

For OFX it doesn’t matter: OFX stores dates as year-month-day. Just check that the dates in the preview are right before you download.

Is my bank file uploaded?

No. The conversion happens in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
