Split PDF and extract pages

Pull out the pages you need, or split a PDF into several files. It runs in your browser — the PDF is never uploaded.

Choose your PDF

Your PDF is split in your browser. It is never uploaded, and nothing is stored.

How it works: your PDF is read in your browser, the pages you choose are copied unchanged into new PDFs, and they are saved to your device as one PDF or a ZIP file.
How it works: everything happens on your device.

Four ways to split

  • Extract pages into one PDF — type the pages you want, such as 1-3, 5, and get one PDF with just those pages, in that order. This is also how you remove pages: list the ones you want to keep.
  • One PDF for each range — 1-4, 5-9, 10- gives three PDFs.
  • A new PDF every few pages — handy for a scanned batch where every invoice or form is the same length.
  • Every page as its own PDF.

When the result is more than one PDF, the files are saved together in a ZIP file, named after your PDF and the pages they hold — for example statement-pages-1-4.pdf.

Writing page ranges

Examples, for a 12-page PDF
You typeYou get
2Page 2
1-3, 7Pages 1, 2, 3 and 7
9-Pages 9 to 12
-4Pages 1 to 4
1, 3-12Every page except page 2
12, 1-11The last page moved to the front

How it works

The tool uses pypdf, an open-source Python library for PDFs. It runs Pyodide — the Python language compiled to WebAssembly — so the work happens inside your browser tab. The first time, the browser downloads about 6 MB (Python and the libraries), which it then keeps in its cache, so later visits start in a second or two.

Pages are copied exactly as they are, so nothing is lost: text stays selectable and images aren’t compressed again. Password-protected PDFs can be split if you know the password; the new PDFs are not password-protected.

When it’s useful

  • Sending a lender or landlord only the statement pages they asked for, not the whole year.
  • Separating a scan of many invoices or receipts into one file each before you file them or attach them in your accounting software.
  • Taking the transaction pages out of a long statement before converting them with the PDF bank statement converter or PDF table to Excel.

To put PDFs back together, use Merge PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is splitting PDFs free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit. The site is supported by advertising.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is split by Python running in your browser and the new files are saved straight to your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

How do I type the pages I want?

Use page numbers and ranges separated by commas. For example, 1-3, 5, 9- means pages 1 to 3, page 5, and page 9 to the end. Pages come out in the order you type them.

How do I remove pages from a PDF?

Choose “Extract pages into one PDF” and type the pages you want to keep. For example, to drop page 2 of a 10-page PDF, type 1, 3-10.

Why did I get a ZIP file?

When the split makes more than one PDF, they are saved together in one ZIP file so your browser downloads them in one go. Open the ZIP to find each PDF.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied exactly as they are, so text stays selectable and images keep their quality.
